Indigenous Youth Connections Program

 

The Indigenous Youth Connections Program aims to assist Urban Indigenous Youth between the ages of 15-24 to explore their full potential and develop strategies for their personal growth, and success, which enhances their ability to successfully integrate education, the work-world, and community.

Youth Drop IN

Youth engagement – connecting with youth
Weekly youth drop in program and weekly activities including elders and facilitators
Monthly outings that are engaging and educational
Collaboration with other youth serving programs, leadership and mentorship opportunities that support youth to learn about their history, culture, identity, and strengths
Elders, and other facilitators to provide culturally appropriate workshops and sessions

Advocacy and Support:

Using a case-management approach, work with individual youth to support their goals
Advocacy for individual youth to access other supports that will lead to improved health, social, educational, or financial outcomes
Connect youth through referral, and at times, attending appointments with youth
Advocate on behalf of youth, including forms completion, securing identification, and accessing provincially mandated, and funded youth services in the Circle 5 region

Life skills Program:

Weekly Life skills Program – identify resources, create workshop materials, and facilitate workshops aimed at increasing youth’s knowledge, skills, and abilities
Access to culture and land based activities

MONDAYS:

Youth Culture Night 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. We welcome all youth to attend this Drop-in. There is dinner, an opportunity to engage with elders, and participate in a variety of cultural activities.

WORKSHOP WEDNESDAYS:

Come and broaden your abilities at our life skills based workshops. We offer a variety of new skills to learn! Snacks will be provided. From 3:30-5:30pm.

Wednesday from 1:30- 3:30 p.m. Youth can book a 1-1, to work towards your goals.

THURSDAY:

Youth drop-in, come hangout in our youth room and work on activities/ on-going projects, connect with our youth team workers and enjoy some light snacks and beverages.

Where We Gather, is an all ages culture night, from 5:00-8:00 PM and meals are provided.
