#MoccasinsontheMove is an empowerment campaign, its main purpose is to showcase the achievements of Aboriginal peoples everywhere
Promote positive cultural identity.
Promote our strengths, and capabilities as Aboriginal people.
To promote recognition for the contributions to our future children.
To recognize the families that chose to break the cyclical effects of residential schools and other related past traumas.
Recognize that real change begins at home.
How You Can Get Involved
You can get involved by simply uploading a photo to Facebook of someone you know who has broken through their barriers in order to bring change.
Here's the steps to showcasing the person of your choice:
- Upload a photo of the individual to Facebook
- In the description area include the hashtag: #MoccasinsontheMove
- Include in the description what barriers the individual broke through and why they are an inspiration to others
This is an empowerment campaign, so lets find some Aboriginal peoples who deserve recognition for their successes!
How #MoccasinsontheMove Began
This campaign was brought on by the inspiring stories of our clients who surpassed the status quo of First Nations peoples in Canada. Our clients are working hard everyday to be the positive change in the lives of their children, families and communities. It is with honor that we start this campaign in showcasing the changes that have happened in our community as a direct result of the hard work of our clients.
The Fraser Region Aboriginal Friendship Centre Association (FRAFCA) is British Columbia's newest Aboriginal Friendship Centre based out of Surrey, BC.
At FRAFCA our Mission is to support the activities that promote the health and well being of Aboriginal People and to promote the resurgence of resident Aboriginal culture, language and teachings, particularly those of local residency.
