My Urban Elder was created to focus on creating positive relationships between children and Elders to sustain healthy childhood development.
It is the goal of FRAFCA to create programming that meets the social and emotional needs of families and children; the creation of long term extended family relationships; provide families and children the opportunity to be connected with elders in their community; and lastly, to enable elders to share time, love, skills, and life experiences, while offering families the support, love and wisdom of caring elders.
The Elders group meet together every Thursday to enjoy a lunch together and a craft or activity. This builds upon the goals of both the Postnatal families as well as the My Urban Elder group.
If you would like to volunteer to be an elder to support families of children ages 0-6yrs of age please contact Marissa at 604-595-1170, or feel free to drop-in to My Urban Elder.
