Awahsuk Aboriginal Headstart Preschool

Awahsuk is a comprehensive preschool program designed to meet the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of Aboriginal preschool-aged children. Awahsuk focuses on six different components: Culture and Language, Education and School Readiness, Health Promotion, Nutrition, Social Support. Awahsuk is in partnership with the Aboriginal Head Start Association of British Columbia (AHSABC). Awahsuk AHS program serves the large Surrey indigenous population and has been a foundation for Indigenous Early Year’s community. This program is culturally designed to prepare children for kindergarten. Culture and language teachings are implemented within the program to expose children to to traditions to correlate with the beliefs and teaching within the diverse indigenous community.
