Our Commitment to UNDRIP
At FRAFCA (Fraser Region Aboriginal Friendship Centre Association), we are deeply committed to the principles and objectives outlined in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). Our dedication to upholding these principles is integral to our mission of supporting and empowering Indigenous communities in the Fraser Region.
Respect for Indigenous Rights
We recognize the inherent rights of Indigenous Peoples as articulated in UNDRIP. This includes the right to self-determination, cultural preservation, and the protection of traditional lands and resources. We are committed to fostering an environment where these rights are respected and promoted.
Cultural Preservation and Revitalization
FRAFCA is dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of Indigenous cultures, languages, and traditions. We support initiatives that celebrate and sustain the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous communities, ensuring that these traditions continue to thrive for future generations.
Community-Led Development
In alignment with UNDRIP, we prioritize community-led development and decision-making. We believe that Indigenous communities are best positioned to identify their needs and develop solutions. FRAFCA provides support and resources to empower these communities to lead their own development initiatives.
Advocacy and Education
We actively advocate for the rights of Indigenous Peoples at local, regional, and national levels. Through education and awareness campaigns, we strive to inform the broader public about the importance of UNDRIP and the need for its implementation. Our advocacy efforts aim to influence policy and create systemic change that benefits Indigenous communities.
Partnership and Collaboration
FRAFCA values partnerships and collaborations that respect and uplift Indigenous voices. We work closely with Indigenous organizations, governments, and other stakeholders to create meaningful and impactful programs and services. Our approach is rooted in mutual respect, equity, and the shared goal of advancing Indigenous rights.
Accountability and Transparency
We are committed to transparency and accountability in all our actions and initiatives. FRAFCA regularly reviews and evaluates our programs to ensure they align with UNDRIP and meet the needs of the communities we serve. We are dedicated to continuous improvement and welcome feedback from our community members.
