The Fraser Region Aboriginal Friendship Centre Association is a non-profit organization that provides a diverse range of culturally safe and supportive services to Aboriginal people in Surrey and the Fraser Salish region. Position Summary:

FRAFCA is hiring two part-time janitorial cleaners to maintain cleanliness and sanitation in our facilities. One cleaner will focus on upstairs areas and the other on downstairs areas, ensuring all offices, restrooms, and common areas are well maintained. The ideal candidates are detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to a safe and welcoming environment.

Your Duties:

As the Janitorial Cleaner , the duties will include: 

  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them; 
  • Gather and empty trash and replace liners, clean receptacles as necessary (Offices and common areas);
  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms; 
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees;
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment; 
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications;
  • Proper labelling, dilution and use of all chemicals;
  • Steam-clean or shampoo carpets (as requested);
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures;
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies with the support of FRAFCA staff as requested; 
  • Clear debris from grounds;
  • Notify the FRAFCA Whalley office managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems; 
  • Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas and spread snow melting chemicals; 
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties;
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings. 
  • Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation Other routine duties as assigned;
  • Other duties as required 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in janitorial or cleaning services preferred
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented and reliable

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires physical stamina and the ability to work in various environments, mostly indoor but an occasional outdoor setting.
  • The janitorial cleaner may be exposed to cleaning chemicals; hence, must have an understanding  follow safety protocols and follow them promptly
