Position Overview: FRAFCA is seeking a dedicated and passionate Project Coordinator for the “Guiding the Sacred” initiative. This project aims to provide group trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and safe wrap-around services that include traditional healing, teachings, and ceremonies for diverse community groups. The coordinator will play a key role in facilitating access to these vital services and addressing gaps in community support.

FRAFCA would create a variety of groups for specific traumas that allow families access to culturally safe wrap-around services, traditional teachings, and ceremonies. Some of the groups that we will provide will be only men groups, only women groups, families, youth groups, and groups for 2SLGBTQI+. All our groups will have access to healing circles, sweats, land-based teaching, and connecting with Knowledge Keepers. In addition to the support groups, FRAFCA will put a high priority on continuing fighting against the ongoing genocide in Canada of Indigenous peoples while also providing counseling for the families and individuals affected by MMIW. Along with supporting the MMIW event that we will be able to hold this year, this project allows us to expand on our MMIW events and close community gaps around this topic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of the “Guiding the Sacred” project through a trauma-informed lens that engages Indigenous pedagogy.
  • Coordinate and facilitate various MMIW support groups that are built on trust, healing, and inclusion
  • Ensure all groups have access to healing circles, sweat lodges, land-based teachings, and connection with Knowledge Keepers.
  • Collaborate with community partners to enhance service delivery and increase client access to culturally safe resources.
  • Address the ongoing challenges faced by Indigenous peoples, particularly related to the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW).
  • Organize and support MMIW events to raise awareness and close community gaps.
  • Maintain a trauma-informed approach in all interactions and services provided.
  • Monitor project progress and prepare reports on outcomes and community impact.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of Indigenous culture, traditions, and community needs.
  • Experience in project management, community outreach, or social services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups
  • Commitment to addressing the challenges faced by Indigenous communities, particularly concerning trauma and healing
  • Any Post Secondary education is an asset but not required, life experience and teachings are recognized as valid assets.

Ability to commute/relocate:

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. Open until suitable candidate is found.
